You can leave them on their own in their barn at night without any types of the light source, but the barn should be equipped with firm fences so that the goats cannot escape away or get stolen or attacked by predators.
Nevertheless, although goats can see the predators in the dark, they cannot escape that easily. Therefore, having guard dogs may be necessary as some predators can break through the fences and attack the goats. Or ranchers can keep their goats inside a closed stall if the neighborhood has potential predators and the weather is severe. Actually, they can actually distinguish a host of various colors.

Goats can see many colors including red, orange, yellow, violet, green, and blue.
According to an experiment, orange is the color that they can distinguish the best and blue is the one that they are worst at distinguishing. Experiments on male goats were carried out to determine their ability to see color. Some people may even find their gaze outright unsettling.
Why have goats evolved this peculiar trait? Goats are herbivores and need to be able to protect themselves when a predator comes along. A broad line of sight, aided by wide, rectangular-shaped pupils, allows them to see danger approaching from their peripheral vision. This means that when goats bend their head down to graze, their eyes stay level with the horizon, allowing them an even better view of encroaching danger.
